Saratoga experiences decline in attendance, handle

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York -- As reported by The Thoroughbred Times: "Saratoga Race Course posted declines in attendance, on-track handle, and all-sources handle for its summer meeting, the Saratoga Springs, New York, track announced on Friday.

"Attendance for the 2008 meeting declined 9% compared with last year. Saratoga had 872,627 patrons this year, down from 958,574 last year.

"On-track handle fell from $123,018,042 last year to $114,563,754 for the 2008 meeting, a decline of 6.9%.

"All-sources handle fell 10.3% as revenue dropped from $582,656,105 in 2007 to $522,530,643 this season..."
