Rumors Swirl Around British Columbia Casino

QUESNEL, British Columbia – As reported by the Victoria News: "Rumours are swirling in the province's capital involving a possible relocation there by the Billy Barker Casino.

"But if it's true, the principals in Quesnel aren't talking about it.

"'Every time I talk to the media, B.C. Lottery Corporation gives me (grief),' said [Brad Kotzer], the Billy Barker Casino's owner and general manager. 'So any further comment about operating a casino in Victoria should come from the BCLC.'

"The rumours stem from a Victoria business man's bid to win a casino of his own.

"As part of his attempt to win approval for a casino in Victoria, Traveller's Inn owner John Asfar claims his company has struck a deal to move Quesnel's Billy Barker Casino to Victoria.

"…Asfar, under the company name Vancouver Island Entertainment, wants to open a casino with 450 slots and 25 gaming tables…"
