Robbery in Casino Parking Lot Comes Up Short

EDMONTON, Canada -- As reported by the CBC: "A couple who won thousands of dollars at Casino Edmonton managed to hold on to their winnings despite being robbed in the parking lot.

"The couple left the casino at 1:30 a.m. on Monday after winning at a baccarat table. They were offered a security escort to their truck in the parking lot, but turned it down.

"As the woman waited for her boyfriend to pick her up in their truck, a car pulled up beside her. Two men got out and grabbed her purse. After she refused to let go, she was shot in the buttock.

"Her boyfriend then ran after the car as the men sped away. He was shot in the thigh.

"...Police say the robbers stole the woman's purse, which had $150. Her boyfriend was the one holding their winnings..."
