Rivers Casino volunteers with Hosanna House

18 June 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Just in time for summer camps, Rivers Casino Community Champions are partnering with Hosanna House for a day of gardening, maintenance and cleanup of the Sherwood Event Center in Wilkinsburg. Team Members will donate their time and efforts on Wednesday, 20 June, for a day of outdoor service.

Sherwood’s 14-acre green space provides outdoor recreation and educational experiences for over 2,000 at-risk youth annually. The Rivers Team Members’ contributions will include landscaping and cleaning around the outdoor areas of the facility such as the outside classrooms, basketball courts and swimming pool.

“We love partnering up with Hosanna House,” said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino. “Our Team Members can’t wait to get outside and make a difference at the Sherwood facility. The Hosanna House team does its part to brighten up the neighborhood, now it’s our turn!”

“The service that Rivers Casino is providing will make a direct impact on underprivileged children and families of the Pittsburgh region,” said Kyle Henderson, director of facilities at Hosanna House. “We are so thankful that the Rivers team is taking time out of their busy day to come lend a helping hand for a great cause.”

This volunteer opportunity is part of Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program. Each month, Team Members assist in a service project that benefits the Pittsburgh community. Most recently, the Rivers Casino Community Champions completed a project with the Larimer Consensus Group, where they spread new mulch, cleaned and maintained raised beds, and planted flowers in the neighborhood green space.
