Rivers Casino Schenectady hosting Capital Region Classic

9 April 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady will go all-in during its third $100,000 guaranteed Capital Region Classic Poker Tournament, the largest poker event in the area, from 23 May through 27 May in Van Slyck's. Poker players will compete for a chance to win a piece of the $100,000 prize pool during this tournament. The Capital Region Classic is just one in a series of tournaments this spring.

Registration opens on 9 May and will remain open until 27 May.

"We are excited to announce our third $100,000 Guaranteed Capital Region Classic Poker Tournament," said Rivers Casino & Resort Poker Manager David Grubb. "There's nothing like the feeling of a big poker tournament where the stakes are high and adrenaline runs higher. We pride ourselves on making these tournaments accessible to players of all skill levels with a format that is player friendly, fun and affordable. It's the perfect chance for both professional and recreational players to gain experience and possibly walk away with big earnings."

Since 2017, the Capital Region Classic has averaged 914 entries with a prize pool of $227,110.

This latest Capital Region Classic will take place from 23 May through 27 May. Day One buy-in players will receive 25,000 in tournament chips for $260, and on 27 May, Day Two buy-in players will receive 100,000 in tournament chips for $1,100.

The tournament will be blogged by Tim Kelliher, a poker personality, so the worldwide poker community can follow along.

Van Slyck's is right off the casino gaming floor and just steps away from The Landing Hotel, which will be welcoming guests for the entire action-packed weekend.
