Province cashes in at casino

NEW BRUNSWICK, Canada -- The new casino in Moncton has provided $12 million in revenue to the government during its first 8 months of existence, The Telegraph Journal reported.

The amount is lower than predicted, but represents half of the gaming profits generated under the operator's agreement with the Province, the report explained.

630,000 people were recorded as visiting the casino up until the end of December and the government is hoping its share of the revenue generated for the casino's first year will reach $16.5 million, The Telegraph Journal report said.
