Premier League must not be complacent on match-fixing, warns expert

23 November 2009

LONDON, England -- A match-fixing expert has warned UEFA not to be complacent about match fixing, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

Declan Hill's special report in the same newspaper a year ago prompted the current investigation that has uncovered a massive match fixing scandal in Europe.

Hill warned UEFA that during a recent trip to Asia he learned bookmakers and fixers have contacts in the Premier League, according to the Telegraph report.

200 matches are currently under investigation across Europe, although no matches from England, Spain, Italy and France are under suspicion. However, three Champions League contests and 12 Europa League matches are being investigated.
