Prairie Meadows may add hotel

IOWA – As reported by the Des Moines Register: "Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona could be the next entrant in the Polk County hotel business.

"The casino's board of directors voted 12-0 Wednesday to consider a hotel as part of a $60 million expansion that has already added casino space, restaurants, an auditorium and corporate meeting rooms.

"A study is expected to take two months or more. Construction would not start for at least 18 months, Chairman Jack Bishop said.

"…Prairie Meadows officials talked Wednesday in general terms of a $25 million, 150-room hotel with a 1,500-space parking garage…"
