Gaming NewsPhiladelphia Park Casino Launches Recruitment Drive12 September 2006PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Philadelphia Park Casino doesn't have its gaming license yet, but that hasn't stopped it from launching a full-scale recruitment drive to hire 600 to 700 workers for an all-slots casino at the Philadelphia Park Racetrack. "Today, as interviewing and recruiting continue near the Bensalem track, company executives will be making a pitch for their license at a hearing of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in Harrisburg. "…As of 8 p.m. yesterday, the first day the hiring center was open and the casino's Web site site was up, more than 1,500 people had applied for jobs ranging from valet parking attendant to accountant. More than 900 of those came in via the Web site. "…Although gaming companies are vying for licenses for stand-alone casinos, such as those proposed for Nicetown and along the Delaware River waterfront in Philadelphia, seven racetracks are likely to receive licenses, as long as their owners pass background tests for suitability…" |
