Pennsylvania's MATCH 6 Jackpot Highest Ever14 March 2005
MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Tuesday's MATCH 6 lotto jackpot - an estimated $3.3 million - is the largest top prize offered since the Pennsylvania Lottery introduced the game in January 2004. The second-largest MATCH 6 jackpot was won May 4, 2004, and was worth $3,266,155.50.
The March 15, 2005, jackpot has been growing since a McKeesport man matched all six numbers in the December 21, 2004, drawing to win a $600,000 cash jackpot, less 25 percent federal withholding.
Winning MATCH 6 jackpot tickets must be claimed at PA Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of the Lottery's seven area offices located throughout the Commonwealth. Claims may be filed Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Live, televised MATCH 6 drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 7 p.m., along with The Daily Number, BIG 4 and CASH 5.
Since the game's first drawing, there have been a total of 15,319,826 winning tickets worth $72,917,262 in prizes, including 10 jackpot winners. Total MATCH 6 sales since the game's inception have generated more than $48.5 million for programs benefiting older Pennsylvanians, including the low-cost prescription drug programs PACE and PACENET, property tax and rent rebates, free and reduced-fare transit rides, and hot meals and services at senior outreach centers across the Commonwealth.
How to play MATCH 6 lotto: Players receive three plays for $2. Players select six numbers from 1 to 49, or they may elect the quick-pick, computer-selection method for the first line of play. The PA Lottery quick-picks an additional two sets of six numbers from one to 49, for each play. This gives each player three lines of six numbers each, for a total of 18 numbers. MATCH 6 players can match winning numbers on one line or a combination of lines any of 11 different ways to win cash prizes. To win the jackpot - which starts at $500,000 and grows until it is hit - players must match all six numbers drawn in a single, horizontal line of play. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1-in-4,661,272.3; overall odds of winning any prize are 1-in-5.9.
