Pennsylvania casino fined for underage gambling

WILKES-BARRE, Pennsylvania -- As reported by the Pocono Record: "Pennsylvania gaming regulators fined Wilkes-Barre Mohegan Sun for 15 separate violations dealing with underage gambling and access to the gaming floor.

"In some instances, children as young as 15 had accompanied a parent on the gaming floor. In another, an 18-year-old was able to play a slot machine for one hour before being discovered.

"Mohegan became the third Pennsylvania casino to reach a consent agreement with the state's gaming control board on age violations. Philadelphia Park was cited twice, and Harrah's Chester near Philadelphia was cited once.

"The fines, totaling $97,500 were approved under two consent agreements with Downs Racing, L.P., operators of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The civil penalties, approved by the board at its public meeting in Harrisburg, were for incidents that occurred between August 2008 and March 2009, according to spokesperson Richard McGarvey.

"The previously highest fine was $24,000..."
