Park Takes Neutral Position on Gettysburg Casino Proposal13 May 2005
PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Gettysburg Times: "The official steward of Gettysburg's historic legacy took a neutral position Thursday on investors' pursuit of a gaming resort just outside of town.
"Gettysburg National Military Park, the federal subdivision of the National Park Service, charged with protecting the battlefields declined to comment on plans to operate slot machines at a proposed resort near the intersection of U.S. 15 and U.S. 30.
"'It's not in the historic district, and it's not within the park boundaries,' said Jo Sanders, park spokesman. 'So we have no position.'…"
