Palm Beach Kennel Club hosts 40th Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick's Day Invitational

11 March 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Post positions have been drawn and it’s time for the Greyhounds to do all the talking, as Palm Beach Kennel Club Poker Room prepares for its biggest, most fun and exciting afternoon of the year, the 40th running of the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational Saturday afternoon, March 12.

With such an evenly balanced field, trying to predict who racing fans will be supporting is a difficult task.

Most likely, the post time favorite will be the entry wearing the red blanket of post one, JS Just Do It. This newcomer from Southland Park in West Memphis, Arkansas, has really taken a liking to Palm Beach Kennel Club, having finished on the pay sheet in 11 of his 12 season starts.

A lot of wagering love will also go to the early speedster #5 Superior Tyson, who will be going for his fourth-consecutive victory. Challenging Tyson for the early advantage will be our $50,000 He’s My Man Classic champion, #4 Xtenshun and #7 NB’s Kisstheroad, who was a finalist in the Classic.

Other St. Patrick’s Invitational that have a shot of being in the second wave of entries entering the backstretch and can use their nice finishing kick are #2 Cardiac Kid and a finalist in last month’s $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby, #6 Atascocita Camry.

Also going for the proverbial “Pot O’ Gold” will be the aptly-named runner-up in the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic, #3 Barts Dublin and the Queen of the middle-distance herself, last months $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby champion #8 Ethel Is Here, who will be the sentimental fan favorite.

The “Luck of the Irish” will be smiling on one of these elite eight illustrious and deserving athletes:
1. JS Just Do It (Pat C Clement – JS Amber Trophy, Koppe, Staats & Collins)
2. Cardiac Kid (Little Andy – Anxious Anna, Arthur Agganis Kennel)
3. Barts Dublin (KC And All – Martinstown Tina*, James Douglas Kennel)
4. Xtenshun (Talbon – Skul, North Shore Kennel)
5. Superior Tyson (Dragon Fire – Superior Date, B & B Racing Kennel)
6. Atascocita Camry (Flying Coal City – Atascocita Cass, Suncoast Kennel)
7. NB’s Kisstheroad (Tyrur Alex* - NB’s Classic Cat, Royal Racing Team)
8. Ethel Is Here (Trent Lee – J’s Aiyssa, Janie Carroll Kennel)

The 40th running of the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational will be held in Saturday afternoon’s twelfth race with an approximate post time of 4 p.m.

Palm Beach Kennel Club honors Arthur J. Rooney Sr. and honors his legacy with our annual St. Patrick’s Invitational. "The Chief" was the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, established in 1933 and bought the Palm Beach Kennel Club in 1970 and Yonkers Raceway in 1972. He was also an outstanding athlete playing football, baseball and amateur boxing. He will always be remembered as one of the most popular figures in sports.
