Oregon casino begins expansion

OREGON – As reported by the Oregon News-Register: "Tribal officials broke ground Monday on a $40 million expansion of the Spirit Mountain Casino, featuring development of an events center, set of conference rooms and new youth activity center.

"The expansion's key elements are a two-story, 135,196-square-foot conference and events complex, to feature a large auditorium as its centerpiece, and a 16,000-square-foot youth activity center, to replace the existing arcade and Playworld facility. It is scheduled for completion in the late summer of 2008.

"It is the most extensive expansion in the casino's 11-year-history, according to Marketing Manager Greg Fritz. He said it will enable Spirit Mountain to bring back its popular bingo gaming, to be more competitive for conferences and to offer entertainment acts year-round.

"…In addition to the auditorium, expected to seat 1,500 to 1,800, the events center will include large conference rooms available for rent for everything from business retreats to family reunions, Fritz said…"
