Ontario embraces online gambling

ONTARIO, Canada -- Ontario's Finance Minister announced yesterday that online gaming is coming to Ontario, CBC News reported.

The program, to be operated by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG) will be up and running by "early 2012", the CBC said.

Consultation and implementation will take 18 months with the government aiming for a program that is "socially responsible and secure", the CBC reported.

Other Canadian provinces who've embraced or are set to embrace online gambling include BC, and The Maritimes.
