Ontario Casino Works Ratify Agreement

19 July 2004

PORT PERRY, Ontario – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino near Port Perry, a one hour drive northeast of Toronto, is pleased to report that employees represented by the Canadian Auto Workers union have ratified a first collective agreement between the Charity Casino and the CAW.

The three-year agreement provides for substantial annual wage increases. The agreement also provides casino workers with additional significant benefits such as increased job protection, enhanced vacation time, cash in lieu of benefits for part-timers and other enhancements.

"These were difficult negotiations, made even more challenging by the fact we were building from scratch a first collective agreement between the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino and the CAW," said Melvin Bartholomeusz, General Manager. "The job now is for all our employees to work together to create an even better gaming experience for our customers."

The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino features 452 slot machines, 50 table games and many other gaming and entertainment attractions. The casino is owned by the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation and situated on First Nation land only a one hour drive from Toronto.
