NY casino supports highway expansion

NEW YORK – As reported by the Mid-Hudson News: "The environmental review for the proposed St. Regis Mohawk casino at Monticello Raceway may say an expansion of NY Rt. 17 from two to three lanes in each direction is not necessary; however, David Hanlon, CEO of Empire Resorts, owners of raceway facilities, said they support 'any investment in the future of the Hudson Valley region.'

"Senator Charles Schumer last year secured $1 million in federal funds to begin the process of widening the highway from Harriman to Monticello.

"'Empire Resorts and its partners the St Regis Mohawk Tribe share the goal of improving the quality of life for residents in this region,' said Hanlon…"
