Northern Lights Casino To Host Cajun Fest 2005

WALKER, Minnesota – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, who proudly own and operate three casinos throughout Minnesota, host Cajun Fest 2005 Thursday, August 18 through Sunday, August 21. This free four-day event includes nightly $500 drawings and other giveaways and will be headlined by traditional Cajun entertainment and a wide array of authentic Cajun dishes, including Jambalya and Gumbo.

Admission begins Thursday, August 18 at 3 p.m. and 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday, August 19-21, closing at 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Offering the full variety of Cajun experiences, the Cajun Fest 2005 will serve traditional favorite foods such as fried catfish hoagies, pot fried crabs, crawfish ettouffe, sweet potato beignets and alligator on a stick. Plate specials are available on select dishes, or patrons can mix-and-match their entrees and beer and liquor specials are available.

Entertainment includes Cajun jitterbug, Cajun two-step and zydeco dance lessons; Sammy Naquin & Waylon Thibodeaux Band; Curtis "the Crazy Fiddler" Coubello; the Basin Brothers Band; a children's parade and a Mardi Gras parade.

Special gaming promotions during Cajun Fest include a $500 drawing nightly at midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 10 p.m. on Sunday. The Hot Seat giveaway, a chance to win $50 every half hour for patrons at slot machines with their player's card inserted, take place at 10 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday every half-hour and 8 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. on Sunday every half hour.

Northern Lights Casino & Hotel is one of three casinos owned by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, and is located at the junction of highways 371 & 200 in Walker, Minnesota. The hotel has 105 rooms, and a variety of amenities including fine dining, top-notch entertainment and a 9,000 square foot Events Center.
