No downturn seen at the Spa racino

NEW YORK -- As reported by the Times-Union: "Most experts insist we're in a recession, and some say it's the brink of depression, but occasional checks at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway indicate business is booming on weekends.

"Saturday before last during my prime-time visit fewer than than 200 of 1,700 of the electronic slots – aka one-armed bandits – weren't being fed by some hopeful souls.

"Right next door to the slots palace, the harness horses were back in action.

"...Even the 300-seat Garden Buffet had a waiting line, and Fortunes Restaurant, overlooking the track, was at capacity..."
