New Zealand: Capital casino a losing bet

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- A new plan for a Wellington casino collapsed when the government refused to lift a moratorium on new casinos, according to the Dominican Post.

Wellington remains the only major centre without a casino, the report said.

The proposal had included luxury apartments and a gondola, but given the considerable opposition now seems unlikely, the report said.
