New Mexico Casino Slot Wins Up28 November 2003
NEW MEXICO – As reported by the Albuquerque Tribune: "Gamblers continue to feed the slot machines at 11 Indian casinos across New Mexico at record rates, increasing the state's take dramatically in the most recent quarter.
"More than $112.5 million in net wins ka-chinged into those slot machines in the quarter ending Sept. 30, according to the quarterly report on casino net wins issued Tuesday by the state Gaming Control Board.
"That's up from the more than $107 million in net wins reported the previous quarter, figures show.
"…For New Mexico coffers, that translates into $10.6 million in revenue-sharing paid into the state General Fund for the quarter. That's well above the $8.4 million average Indian casinos paid to the state in each of the previous three quarters.
"…As part of the 2001 tribal-state gaming compacts, larger casinos pay 8 percent of their slot machine net wins to the state, while smaller casinos pay 3 percent.
"Under the compacts, Indian casinos are not required to provide the net revenue generated from table games, such as blackjack, craps and poker…"
