New Hampshire casino bill rejected

PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire — As reported by Foster's: "Casino gambling is unlikely to come to Pease International Tradeport or any other place in Portsmouth — at least not this year.

"The Senate Ways and Means Committee on Thursday voted 3-2 against recommending the passage of Senate Bill 225, legislation sponsored by Republican Sen. John Gallus of Berlin that would have allowed the establishment of a casino at Pease and in his hometown of Berlin.

"Although the bill could still be heard on the Senate floor, recommendations by the committee are seldom not upheld…"
