Navy Chief Wins $1 Million for Pennies at Atlantis

Reno, Nevada -- (Press Release) -- A U.S. Navy electronic tech senior chief, James Lashua of Fernley, Nev. played $1.50 on a two cent progressive machine at Atlantis Casino Resort and won $1,060,193.82.

Lashua, 40, stationed at Fallon Naval Air Base, stopped by the Atlantis to purchase a Health Spa gift certificate for his wife and paused to play his favorite M*A*S*H™ machine. Lashua was playing the machine for about three minutes when he hit the jackpot on the 15th line.

"I thought I only hit $60," Lashua said. "I can't believe I won this much on a penny slot! I am so excited!"

Lashua and his wife Mercy were married in March and spent their honeymoon at Atlantis. The couple plans to use their jackpot winnings to pay off their new house, his mom's new car and plan to invest the rest.
