Multi-State Lottery Association uses Jumpnode

17 October 2006

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Jumpnode Systems, a leading developer of easy-to-use, hosted network management and monitoring solutions, today announced that the Multi-State Lottery Association is using the Jumpnode Monitoring Solution to proactively monitor its complex network. Jumpnode provides the organization with real-time network monitoring to ensure optimization for its fifteen hosted public websites that service millions of customers. The solution also monitors and tracks the performance of the company's internal IT systems, and the draw-reporting systems utilized by the association's 31 member lotteries.

The Multi-State Lottery Association sought a monitoring solution that was reliable, resilient, and easy to use and maintain. Jumpnode Systems met the criteria and has been successfully deployed on the association's network since March 2006. Configuring the Jumpnode hosted, appliance-based solution into the Lottery network took five to ten minutes. In less than two hours all critical checks were in place due to the auto-discovery tools and the vast number of pre-configured checks included. The product also allowed custom monitoring definitions and, over the course of two weeks, nearly 500 checks were added.

"Prior to putting Jumpnode in place, the monitoring solutions we used were software based and ran on our servers, which meant if the server or network connection went down, the monitoring services went down too," said Sean Lair, technical advisor to the director at the Multi-State Lottery Association. "Downtime in our industry has the potential of destroying our reputation. With the Jumpnode system consistently monitoring and sending alerts we can quickly remediate issues to keep these networks optimized and running smoothly."

With Jumpnode's phone modem backup capabilities, the Multi-State Lottery Association now has access to data anytime, even if the Jumpnode device loses network connectivity. Jumpnode also retains historical data, enabling powerful and graphical views of longer-term trends.
