Mohegan Sun celebrates final leg of Triple Crown

25 May 2007

NCASVILLE, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The third and final leg of The Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes, will be held on Saturday, June 9th. Mohegan Sun is ready to celebrate the 139th annual "Run for the Carnations" that day with a very special event in the Uncas Ballroom.

Doors for the event will open at 11:00am, with open seating for approximately 1000 people. Seating is solely on a "first come, first serve" basis. Mohegan Sun will also play host to special guest handicappers for the event, Harry Furlong of the horse racing website Brisnet.com, and Tom Quigley, publisher of The Horse Player Magazine.

At the event, patrons can enter to win a $500.00 show bet on a designated race at Belmont Park by dropping their entries in the drum located in the Uncas Ballroom. Four lucky winners will make their selection on races 4-7 at Belmont Park, and if their selection comes in, they keep the entire payoff. There is always a winner at Mohegan Sun -- if the winner's selection does not "show," the winner will receive a consolation prize of $100.00. Patrons who place a wager of $25.00 will receive an official Belmont Stakes souvenir or a pass to Mohegan Sun's Belmont Stakes buffet.

Advance wagering for The Belmont Stakes will also be available in the Race Book of Mohegan Sun on Friday, June 8th. Those who place a $40.00 wager that day will receive an official Belmont Stakes souvenir gift.

Mohegan Sun, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, is one of the largest, most distinctive and spectacular entertainment, gaming, shopping and meeting destinations in the United States. Situated on 240 acres along the Thames River in scenic southeastern Connecticut, Mohegan Sun is within easy access of New York, Boston, Hartford and Providence and located 15 minutes from the museums, antique shops and waterfront of Mystic Country.
