Missouri Casino Owner Had Good Run

LaGRANGE, Missouri – As reported by the Quincy Herald-Whig: "Grace Entertainment Inc. has dealt its last hand at Mark Twain Casino.

"The former owners of the LaGrange casino turned over the reins to Herbst Gaming when the casino temporarily closed at 6 p.m. Jan. 31.

"…Grace Entertainment had operated Mark Twain Casino since it opened on July 25, 2001.

"…During those 43 months, the casino managed to meet the initial expectations of the owners, who had hoped it would generate about $25 million a year in revenue.

"Once the final chips were counted Jan. 31, the cumulative totals — based on information provided by the Missouri Gaming Association — show the casino generated a 43-month total of $89.36 million in revenue.

"…The city of LaGrange was a big winner during the time Grace Entertainment owned the casino. The city earned $5.58 million in revenue from the casino during its first 43 months, with $3.8 million coming from a $2 admission fee and $1.78 million coming from the city's share of the state's 20 percent gaming tax…"
