Michigan casino lays off 100

MANISTEE, Michigan -- As reported by the Ludington Daily News: "The Little River Casino Resort began laying off 100 of its 950 employees Monday.

"General Manager Michael Garrow said the casino resort in Manistee Township is experiencing the same loss of business as other casinos in the state.

"'We examined every possible way to avoid these layoffs and regret the necessity of this action which is being taken along with other cost saving measures. Little River has never had to layoff employees in the past, even during the historically slower winter months. We have always chosen to just absorb the additional costs. This speaks very highly of our commitment to our employees and customers but the times have finally caught up to us,' Garrow said..."
