MGM Macau ushers in Year of the Dog with festive offerings

14 February 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- To celebrate Chinese New Year, MGM Macau is ushering in the auspicious Year of the Dog with stunning decorations at Grande Praça, spectacular Lion Dance performances, exquisite dining experience and radiant spa treatments for all guests. Kick-start the new year with friends and family with a fortune-filled retreat at MGM Macau.

Lucky rendezvous at Grande Praça
Grande Praça has put on an extravagant Garden of Treasure, with hanging sparkling gems and jewels. In addition, the eight-meter tall MGM Aquarium located at the heart of Grande Praça, which houses over a thousand colorful fishes with more than 120 varieties, will present daily fish-feeding shows with expert divers at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. As fish and water represent prosperity in Chinese culture, guests can take the opportunity and wish their beloved ones the best luck during the New Year.

Get blessed with Lions
MGM Macau and MGM Cotai will showcase the Lion Dance Blessing Ceremony at 2 p.m. on both 18 and 19 February. Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, will lead a team of executives to erect the giant pinwheels and to carry out the traditional eye-dotting ritual on the iconic Golden Lions to bring the warmest blessings and good fortune to all in the Year of the Dog.

Imperial Court Exquisite Banquet
Imperial Court is commemorating the Year of the Dog with two specially crafted banquet menus and an exclusive Chinese New Year a-la-carte menu, available from 16 to 25 February, with auspicious symbolism for this season. The banquet menus incorporate ingredients that are auspicious, including the Wok-fried scallops, long clams and gan lan shoot with honey marinated Yunnan ham, crispy fried mashed taro cake stuffed with crabmeat and scallop topped with caviar, and barbecued suckling pig with glutinous rice. The price for the auspicious menus are priced at 11,880 MOP for 12 guests and 880 MOP per person, respectively. More importantly, fish represent prosperity in Chinese culture, hence, the oven-baked Patagonian 51 toothfish fillet with egg white and conpoy, as well as the steamed fish meat and shrimp dumplings, are some of the iconic Chinese New Year a-la-carte dishes that cannot be missed.

Rossio Seasonal Buffet
Rossio is known for offering a wide selection of Asian and international cuisines, fresh seafood and sweet treats. Between 16 and 18 February, the buffet line will serve a wide range of tempting seasonal favorites, including abalone double-boiled soup, lobster bisque with cognac, scallop salad with green curry dressing, roasted Omaha prime rib with mustard and roasted lamb leg with harissa. This year, Rossio will serve the traditional Lo Hei Salad, which symbolizes fortune and wealth for the new year, with an unlimited supply of Boston lobsters, French oysters, abalones and sashimi, bringing guests a tempting gastronomic journey. The Chinese New Year buffet is priced between 298 MOP and 498 MOP per person.

New Year Golden Glamor at Tria Spa
Tria Spa offers a special Chinese New Year spa package to glam up for the Year of the Dog. The gold massage oil being used in the Golden Bliss Massage signifies wealth and fortune, while bringing deep relaxation and re-energizing the body and mind.
