Match-fixing puts the heat on Fifa

29 October 2010

LONDON, England -- Fifa has had a tumultuous week with allegations of corruption and vote selling in the World Cup bid process, The Guardian reported.

Fifa's approach to dealing with corruption allegations has come under some scrutiny, with Fifa being accused of failing to deal with corruption, The Guardian report said.

Fifa has responded to the criticism by insisting governments must be kept "away from the sport" because of the tendency to make false allegations of corruption to remove officials, The Guardian report quoted.

This week the Zimbabwe Football Association chief executive Henrietta Rushwaya may face a ban, as she was alleged to have been involved in a match-fixing scandal, The Guardian report noted.
