Massachusetts Tracks Cut Ties to New Hampshire Track

MASSACHUSETTS – As reported by the Boston Globe: "Bay State racetracks have temporarily cut business ties to a New Hampshire dog track where top managers were recently indicted for allegedly taking part in a $200 million illegal betting ring.

"The state's four dog and horse tracks on Saturday stopped broadcasting races to Lakes Region Greyhound Park in Northern New Hampshire. The practice, called simulcasting, allows gamblers at Lakes and other out-of-state tracks to bet on Massachusetts races.

"The move comes after federal prosecutors in New York indicted 17 around the country - including the general and assistant manager at Lakes Region Greyhound Park - for allegedly taking part in a gambling scheme that involved New York's Gambino crime family. The track's general manager is charged in part with funneling illegal gambling money through a Concord, N.H., company and into an account at an off-track betting operation on an English Channel island…"
