Malta chooses festive season to pass gaming law

MALTA -- Malta has amended their Lotteries and Gamings Act making it harder for applicants to obtain gaming hall licences.

The controversial amendments are an attempt to clamp down on the unregulated VLT industry that has sprung up all over Malta.

Since these are amendments to the gaming law, new conditions can be issued without requiring parliamentary approval, the report explained.
