Low odds, high hopes

28 February 2011

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey -- The odds may be low, but if you're not in you cannot win is the approach Meadowlands casino advocates appear to be taking, according to the Star-Ledger.

In fact advocates go as far as to say that a casino in the Meadowlands is necessary to save the industry, the report said.

Any such casino would require a constitutional amendment along with approval of both the state Legislature and the Governor, the Star-Ledger reported.

The Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce presented a $1.4 billion plan for the complex that would include a casino, however the Christie administration may be unlikely to warm to the proposal, according to the Star-Ledger news report.
