Louisiana video bingo parlor opens1 August 2007
LOUISIANA -- As reported by the Advocate: "A third video bingo parlor has opened in Tangipahoa Parish at the Kentwood Plaza in Kentwood, while a video bingo operator has expressed an interest in opening a parlor in Ponchatoula, officials said Tuesday.
"The Kentwood Plaza began offering video bingo games July 2 after the Town Council approved an ordinance authorizing video parlors and allowing the town to collect taxes on revenue from the games, Mayor Harold Smith said.
"Video bingo is much like video poker in that gamblers insert money into machines to play the game.
"The video bingo machines are used as fundraisers for sponsoring charities and are regulated under laws other than those controlling video poker..."
