Living Sky casino details revealed

SASKATCHEWAN – As reported by the Southwest Booster: "Additional details of the Living Sky Casino in Swift Current were unveiled during a ground breaking ceremony on April 20.

"The long anticipated $35 million casino project took another step closer to becoming a reality when officials announced the name of the casino project and outlined a construction schedule which will result in the project being constructed by late 2008.

"'This casino is going to be second-to-none in terms of the interior design finish. And the Performing Arts Centre, the multi-function entertainment venue is going to be very unique from any casino in Western Canada. We're really looking forward to drawing all types of people into the entertainment/Performing Arts Centre,' explained Tribal Chief Edmund Bellegarde, File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council.

"'It's going to be an 18-month construction schedule, so we hope to have the Living Sky Casino open by late 2008. The tender packages for the construction of the casino are ready to go and will be out next week, and we hope to be in the ground in June, with full construction going forward, and culminating in late 2008 with an official grand opening.'

"…The Nekaneet First Nation is serving as the host First Nation for the project, and Nekaneet First Nation Chief Alice Pahtayken said they are thrilled to see the project move a step closer to reality…"
