Kindred and Derby County team up on new research project

16 November 2020

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Kindred Group extends its partnership with Derby County’s Community Trust and the “Team Talk” program for an additional year. The partnership will enable a new research project in collaboration with University of Derby to understand the effectiveness of Team Talk in light of COVID-19 lockdown challenges.

Kindred Group has through its brand 32Red extended the partnership with Derby County’s Community Trust and the Team Talk program. In addition to supporting the well received community program in Derby, the partnership will include a new research project in collaboration with the University of Derby. The one year research project will be lead by Professor David Best as one of the lead researchers and examine the effectiveness of Team Talk during the current COVID-19 pandemic. A variety of interviews and surveys will be conducted with participants in the Team Talk program, along with other insights. The research will be presented in a report in the end of 2021.

“The renewed investment means Derby County Community Trust can continue some of the fantastic work and results we saw from the first year of our partnership. To be able to work in partnership with University of Derby to develop a robust research and evaluation project that assesses the impact of the program on individual and community well-being will be very interesting”, says Neil Banbury, General Manager UK Kindred Group.

Kindred Group has driven forward an ambitious project to change the way gambling operators sponsor sport in the UK, using the power of sport in general and football particular, to achieve a positive impact on society.

“Following a successful first year, we are delighted that 32Red has recommitted to this project. The renewal of our partnership means we can now expand the program and reach many more men with mental health problems across the community over the coming year”, explains Simon Carnall, Head of Community at Derby County Community Trust.
