Kentucky track owner wants to move

HENDERSON, Kentucky -- As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "The owner of a western Kentucky racetrack plans to try for a casino license if voters approve gambling in Kentucky.

"Ellis Park owner Ron Geary said he would put a casino in Owensboro -- not Henderson, where the track is located -- to move it away from competition in Indiana.

"...Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear wants the 2008 General Assembly to approve a referendum to allow voters to decide whether to amend the state constitution to allow casinos.

"...Geary said putting an Ellis Park-owned casino in Owensboro would move it away from Casino Aztar in Evansville, Ind., as well as place it in a larger city..."
