Kentucky: Slots bill would pass

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -- A bill permitting slot machines at Kentucky racetracks will obtain sufficient votes to pass if it gets to the floor, Gov. Steve Beshear said according to a report in the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The Governor did not state how many Republicans would support the bill though.

In his speech to local officials the Governor expressed his opinion that the horse industry should be protected because it employs 100,000 people in Kentucky and offers significant revenue to the state, The Herald-Leader reported.
