Kansas Gambling Proposal Meets Opposition

KANSAS – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "The measure, which was scheduled to be introduced in the Kansas Legislature on Wednesday, would allocate an estimated 2,000 slots to the Woodlands, but track executive Larry Seckington took issue with the proposed share of revenue, requirements for the track to qualify for slots, and provisions that would establish racing schedules.

"The Woodlands reached an agreement in late 2004 with the Kickapoo and Sac and Fox Native American tribes to support their plan for a tribal-owned casino in Village West under a compact with the state, in exchange for tribal approval for the track to receive 600 slot machines…"
