Kansas expanded gambling decision coming

KANSAS -- As reported by the Kansas City Business Journal: "Shawnee County District Court Judge Charles Andrews said Tuesday that he will give a response to an expanded gambling lawsuit before February.

"Hearings started Tuesday on the suit, which challenges a law that allows for private management of state-owned destination casinos. Attorney General Paul Morrison filed the 'friendly' suit Aug. 23 with the Supreme Court, but in September it referred the suit to Shawnee County District Court. Morrison brought the suit at the request of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who wanted to make sure the law would withstand a legal challenge before developers moved ahead with multimillion-dollar projects..."
