Gaming NewsKansas City casinos have solid August16 September 2009KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- As reported by The Kansas City Star: "August must have had a familiar feeling at Kansas City's casinos. Just like July, it was a solid month, topping $61 million in revenue, but down 1.1 percent from a year ago. "The various casinos' ups and downs in August even were the same as in July: The Argosy and Isle of Capri took in more revenue for the month than they did a year ago, and Ameristar and Harrah's took in less. "Fortunately for the state, the St. Louis market's revenue was up 1.4 percent in August, and the much-smaller outstate market was flat. That left the overall August take from the state's 12 casinos up 0.2 percent, at $148.4 million. "That followed a 4 percent year-over-year rise in statewide revenue in July, leaving the state ahead for the fiscal year, which began July 1..." |
