Gaming NewsIsle at Waterloo pulls ahead of rivals13 August 2007WATERLOO, Iowa -- As reported by Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier: "The Isle Casino and Hotel at Waterloo may have been the last to open of the four casinos receiving Iowa gaming licenses in 2005. "But a report released Friday by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission shows The Isle, which opened June 30, is initially doing more business than those rivals. "The Isle at Waterloo racked up more than $7.8 million in adjusted gross revenue during its first full month of operation in July. Adjusted gross revenue is the amount of money wagered at a casino minus the winnings paid out --- in other words, the dollars gamblers leave in slots or on gaming tables when they go home. "The IRGC report shows Riverside Casino Resort, south of Iowa City, and Diamond Jo, along Interstate 35 in Worth County, tallied $7.3 million and $6.7 million in adjusted gross revenue respectively during the same month. Those casinos and Wild Rose in Emmetsburg, which had less than $2.5 million in July revenue, received gaming licenses on the same day as Waterloo..." |
