Improved outlook for New Brunswick racino plans

NEW BRUNSWICK, Canada -- As reported by Standardbred Canada: "New Brunswick's health minister has a three-fold interest in the province's racing industry, and supports the proposal of a Saint John racino.

"Michael Murphy's role in Shawn Graham's Liberal government will see him seek funding for addiction services, speak out in favour of allowing racinos, and he will also plead Moncton's case as a viable option for a harness racing facility.

"New Brunswick's Telegraph-Journal reports that Murphy has said it is clear that Saint John has emerged as the leading candidate for the province's first racino, but he also wants to see a new facility in Moncton.

"...Murphy is a standardbred owner himself, with four horses in training and five broodmares in foal..."
