Illinois' Casinos Report Results Up

JOLIET, Illinois – As reported by the (Illinois) Herald News: "Harrah's Joliet Hotel & Casino in September led a third consecutive month of improving revenues at Illinois casinos.

"September casino revenue at Harrah's was up 30.7 percent from the same month a year ago, according to a report Monday from the Illinois Gaming Board. The revenue increase was the biggest among Illinois' nine casinos, although all but one of the casinos were ahead of their performance in September 2003.

"…Until July the state's casinos had a streak of declining revenues dating back to the tax increase, when several casinos, including Harrah's and the Empress, began to lay off workers, shorten hours of operation, and charge admission…"
