Hotel Vacancy for Isle of Capri

KANSAS CITY -- As reported by the Kansas City Star: "Mississippi-based Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. is adding a 120-room hotel to its Boonville, Mo., casino property.

"That startling news leaves Isle's casinos in Kansas City and tiny Cripple Creek, Colo., as its only U.S. casino properties — of 15 — without lodging.

"With the recent announcement that Argosy Riverside Casino soon will break ground for a 250-room hotel, the Isle of Capri Casino also is left as the metropolitan area's lone nondestination casino.

"That puts Isle at risk to be regarded as a "grind joint" — an unflattering industry term for a profit-churning local slot emporium with no pretensions of greater gaming glory..."
