Gaming NewsHarrah's Bid for Rosecroft the Biggest10 December 2003MARYLAND – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Harrah's Entertainment Corp., the Las Vegas gaming company that owns Louisiana Downs and part of Turfway Park, reportedly bid $25-million for the physical assets of Rosecroft Raceway near Washington, D.C., the largest of ten bids for the facility believed to be the most lucrative in Maryland if legislators legalize video lottery terminals at state racetracks. "The Baltimore Sun obtained a summary of the proposals, which included bids from Magna Entertainment Corp., Penn National Gaming Inc., Isle of Capris Casinos, former Arlington Park owner Ralph Ross, and five others. "…Several of the bids include language that would return a percentage of the VLT profits back to Cloverleaf for a certain number of years…" |
