Golden Nugget Owner: Garage is Sound

LAS VEGAS – As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal: "An owner of the Golden Nugget said Tuesday that his hotel's parking garage was structurally sound despite two cars plunging from the building in less than a year.

"'At the end of the day, the building was sound. It was up to all codes,' Tim Poster said at a news conference held the day after a Connecticut couple's rental car crashed through a wall and fell two stories.

"Las Vegas police were investigating the crash, the second since January involving an elderly couple at the downtown hotel.

"…After the January accident, an independent inspection of the garage determined that it was structurally sound and was up to applicable city building codes, Poster said.

"…The garage was built in 1985, so it must comply only with city codes at the time, said Paul Wilkins, the city's top building official…"
