Gaming NewsGaming Board fines Par-A-Dice $17,50019 November 2003CHICAGO – As reported by Copley News Service: ``The state's gaming regulators on Tuesday fined the Par-A-Dice riverboat casino $17,500 for allegedly not telling them soon enough about a theft at the East Peoria property. ``Operators waited seven days in July 2002 to inform the Illinois Gaming Board after determining that $10,000 had been stolen from the vault, the board's chief legal counsel, Mark Ostrowski, told panel members. Rules mandate immediate notification in such cases, officials said. ``The board approved the $17,500 fine recommended by its administrators, giving the Par-A-Dice 21 days to respond. A challenge may be pending. ``…Par-A-Dice vault employee Kerry Garmann admitted to investigators that he stole the $10,000, Ostrowski said. Garmann, 23, of Washington pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge in November 2002…" |
