Gambling revenue falling in Illinois

13 September 2010

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois -- Gambling spend was down 5.6 per cent in August in Illinois compared to last year, The Herald-Review reported.

Gambling boats saw 8.7 per cent fewer people climb aboard, The Herald-Review said.

The decreases are not as serious as in 2008 when the smoking ban sent boat revenue crashing down 20 per cent, the report noted.

Neighbouring states are also showing some decline, except Missouri which saw a 3 per cent rise, the Herald-Review report said.
