Gaming NewsGambling Act committee members speak out23 February 2007UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Blackpool Today: Calls were today increasing for a special Parliamentary committee to be reconvened to investigate Blackpool's supercasino snub. It came as two of the MPs who helped formulate the new Gambling Act spoke of their disappointment at the resort losing out to Manchester. "Great Yarmouth MP Tony Wright and Jeff Ennis, who represents Barnsley East and Mexborough, were both members of the highly influential Joint Committee on the Draft Gambling Act. "It made recommendations to the Government on how the new gaming laws should operate. "Six members of the committee have now formally called for it to be reconvened. "Both MPs say they would like the committee to examine the recommendation by the Casino Advisory Panel that selected Manchester as the location for the UK's first supercasino licence…" |
