Former Mayor Plans Kansas Casino

KANSAS – As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "Former Wichita Mayor Bob Knight on Wednesday said a large-scale casino resort that his development team is planning in the Wichita area would cost at least $200 million and include a golf course, a hotel, restaurants, retailers and child care.

"…Knight's comments came a day after the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska announced plans to build a large-scale casino in Sedgwick County.

"…The planned off-reservation casino faces several regulatory obstacles and opposition to gambling in the Wichita area.

"Knight set no timetable for the casino, which local, state and federal officials must approve.

"…Knight said the casino resort would produce more than $40 million in taxes annually for the state as well as generate additional taxes for local governments…"
